Week 5 | We Are Bid to Follow

Theme
Grace always invites us to participate.
Reflection
Jesus calls ordinary, broken, imperfect, and busy people to follow Him, not because they are ready or qualified, but because He is faithful, and because He desires us to share in the fullness of life and joy that is found in Him. He meets people in the middle of their days, in the midst of work, responsibilities, doubts, and unfinished stories, and He speaks a simple invitation…
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.”
- Psalm 119:105
Following Jesus does not leave us unchanged. It reshapes what we long for, reorders our priorities, and redirects the direction of our lives. What once seemed central may lose its grip, and what once felt distant may become essential.
“Follow me.”
- Matthew 4:19
This invitation is not about getting everything right, but about availability, willingness, and surrender. Lent invites us to slow down and notice what we cling to for security or control, and to consider what we may need to loosen our hold on in order to walk more freely with Christ.
To follow is not to have all the answers, but to trust the One who calls us. Day by day, step by step, we learn that the path of following is also the path where life, freedom, and joy are found.
